Research studies show that cancer will affect 1 in 3 Australians in their lifetime. For some time research has been showing that participation in physical activity significantly decreases the risk of cancer. More recent research is now showing that the survival rate of cancer patients is significantly higher amongst those that participate in physical activity both during and after their treatment. Furthermore exercise rehabilitation programs have been shown to increase mood, self esteem and functional capacity of patients with cancer.
